RUBY CHANCE Obituary

SAN ANGELO - Our dear mother and grandmother, Ruby Louise Craft Chance, 79, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, after a long illness. Lou was born on Aug. 16, 1926, in Healton, Okla. She was a longtime resident of Grape Creek, where she enjoyed growing tulips and roses and spending time in her yard. Lou was a wonderful cook and worked as the cook at the West Texas Boys Ranch for 10 years, where she was affectionately known as "Mama Lou" by the boys. She especially enjoyed creating new recipes for pies and cakes; she won numerous awards for her baking. Lou was a former member of the Women's Extension, where she made lifelong friends. All who knew her were familiar with her laugh and her simple joy in life. She loved arts and crafts and was creative and imaginative. Lou was proud of her Indian heritage, but proud most of all of her children, grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, who will all miss her until their reunion in our heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her parents, M. I. Craft and Billie Phoebe Craft; and a brother, Robert Patrick Craft. Lou is survived by two children, Michael Shane Francis and wife Kathy, and Cynthia Kay Watts and husband Jim; six grandchildren, Amber Kay Alexander and husband Robert, Todd Aaron Beckham and wife Maggie, Shauna Lynn Newton, Summer Brook Vant Zant, Lacy Leanne Francis and Ryan Michael Francis; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lee Hooper and Lois Shannon; a brother, Keith Dow Craft; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, in Grape Creek Cemetery. Services are under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Please don't weep for me I'm the happiest I've ever been For I'm with the Father you see. I'm walking in Gods Garden The flowers are so sweet And around every turn a loved one I meet. From the Father I've received my pardon And now I can stay in this beautiful Garden. So long my love ones. You have given me so much joy on Earth. But there's so much more, I'll be waiting for you at Heavens Door.
