VIOLA COX Obituary

SAN ANGELO - Viola Ruth Cox joined her loved ones in Heaven on Thursday, March 20, 2008. He has opened His arms for her and she can finally feel happy. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, in Belvedere Cemetery, conducted by Kevin McSpadden, her trusted friend. Viola was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Runnels County to Flora and John Stehle. She graduated from Winters High School and then on Aug. 21, 1937, married J.P. Cox in Ballinger, Texas. Viola worked for J.C. Penneys and Hemphill Wells until she retired. Mother will always be known for her sewing and cooking abilities. Making candy, cakes and pies for everyone was one of her greatest joys. She was a member of Southland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, her husband, her beloved daughter, Shirley; and granddaughter Sherri. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Harold McEwen of San Angelo; granddaughter Michelle (Key) Simon of Greenwood; granddaughter Lorri; grandson Brandon; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Linda; favorite nieces, Jerene Hocker and Quinclle Archer; and two very special lasting friends who visited weekly, Betty Runion and Sybil Holveck. We would like to thank all of the "friends" in Unit 1 at Baptist Memorials Care Center for the loving care they gave her. Mother will be greatly missed, but we know that she is happy, smiling, and enjoying her reunion with her loved ones.
