Johnny Cody Obituary

Johnny M. Cody, 72 of the Stecoah community in Robbinsville, N.C., passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, after an extended illness.
He was a native of Graham County, and the son of the late William Robert and Rachel Greene Cody. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Claude Cody, Richard Cody, Floyd Cody and Herman Cody; and sisters: Frankie Barmes, Jessie Cable and Nola Mauney.
Johnny was a man of strong faith, who loved the Lord. He also loved singing and playing the guitar, and witnessed to every stranger he met about our gracious and Heavenly Father.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis Self Cody; sons, John Stogsdall (Rebecca) of Hayesville, N.C., and Jacob Cody (Joy) of Bryson City, N.C.; daughters, Michelle Ledford (Terry) of Shelby, N.C., and Amy Shope (Daniel) of Forest City, N.C.; brothers: Lloyd Cody, Hardy Cody, Jack Cody all of Stecoah, N.C., Eddy Cody of Bryson City, N.C., and Thurman Cody of Gastonia, N.C.; sisters: Olean Brown and Velvie Knight, both of Stecoah, N.C., Brenda Brown of Marietta, Ga., and Wanda Moore of Rex, Ga.
He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Stecoah Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Teem officiated.
Burial followed the service at the Greene Family Cemetery.
The family received friends from noon – 2 p.m., Saturday at the church, prior to the service.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home was honored to serve the Cody family.
