Leonard Walter "Len" Moody

1967 - 2025

Leonard Walter Moody, 57, left this old world for a better place on Saturday, March 26, 2025. He always said, "I will work 'til I die," and he did just that: he had a massive heart attack in his work truck in Matthews, N.C.
Born July 30, 1967, he was a native of Graham County and country to the core.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Loretta Mauck Moody and Leonard Moody.
He is survived by his son, Jordan Moody (Morgan) of Martinsville, Va., daughters, Hope Moody (Colton) of Marble, N.C., Eva Moody (Joshua) of Kodak, Tenn., Daphne Duncan (Wendell) of Woodstock, Ga., and Laura Adams (Jesse) of Robbinsville, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Jackson White, Stetson McEvers, Savannah, Max and Sadie Duncan, and Harden, Cansas and Montana Adams; sisters, Marsha Walker (James) and Melissa Crisp (Jackie), both of Robbinsville, N.C., and Diane Price (Lonnie) of Desoto, Miss.; brother, Steve Jordan (Sue) of Andrews, N.C.; and nieces and nephew, Melanie Oswalt (Erik), Jessica Irwin (Tommy), Lora Crisp (Anthony) and Lee Crisp (Dana).
Len was good at many things. He was a logger, a construction worker and was always working at something.
He loved to fish, hunt and garden. He was a master gardener and could grow anything. He also canned and froze what he grew, as sauerkraut was his specialty.
Len was like a big ray of sunshine, always smiling and laughing in any crowd, never meeting a stranger. His heart was the biggest ever known. Day or night, he was always there for whoever needed him.
He was a donor and gave his eyes.
We love and miss him more than words could ever say.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the Townson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
The Revs. Jimmy Millsaps, Chip Ray and Deron Shuler officiated.
Burial followed at the Bear Creek Cemetery.
