Adam Thomas Streng, age 18, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024. He was born June 12, 2006, in Muskegon to Thomas "Tommy" and Kendra (Shepherd) Streng. Adam was a 2024 graduate of Grand Haven High School.
With his kind and generous heart, Adam was loved by all who met him. Adam was the person who would always lend a hand to someone in need, and always put others' needs before his own. While quiet and kind, Adam also had the ability to slide in a funny joke or comment with perfect timing and delivery. Kind, loving, funny, smart, friendly is how the people who knew Adam best would describe him. His smile and laughter was contagious.
Adam's kindness earned him many friends in many different aspects of his life. Some friends have been with Adam since preschool, while others were acquired when he found his love of gaming and rock climbing. The dining room table was typically taken up by the latest jigsaw puzzle, family card games of cribbage and Clue.
Adam's love of climbing began at a very young age when he would scare his aunt by climbing to the tops of trees in her yard. He continued climbing at random times, but made it a regular hobby after being reintroduced to it during his Outdoor Ed class his senior year. He truly enjoyed going to the Scrapyard and other facilities with his climbing friends.
Adam also valued the friendships of his Panera co-workers. Having such a large family, Adam was lucky to have many cousins he considered friends as well.
Traveling with his family was something Adam also enjoyed, whether it was close to home or across an ocean. Summers at Big Star Lake at the family cottage were spent swimming, puzzling and "borrowing" the neighbors' WiFi signal. A trip to Hawaii with his grandma, aunt, uncle and cousins was where he learned to surf and confirmed his love of sushi. Many years of spring breaks in Florida with family were always a highlight, aside from a bit of a rocky banana boat ride which became a family joke. A trip to the U.P. where Adam jumped from Black Rocks with no fear, hiked Sugar Loaf, and took in the beauty of the scenery while lying in a hammock was a trip that was often reminisced about with his family.
He is survived by his parents, Tommy and Kendra; brothers, Jackson and Jude; grandparents, Ken and Dolores Shepherd, and Sabina Streng; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his papa, Tom Streng.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at St. Patrick Church of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish. Adam was an amazing person. Whenever i saw him at work i knew it wasn´t gonna be a boring or dull shift. He always brought amazing energy everywhere he went and made it where everyone couldn´t help but smile and laugh and be cheerful whenever he was around. He had this amazing ability to go from getting everything done in the kitchen and making sure everyone was on top of everything to making you laugh so hard that´d you´d be thinking about it for the rest of the night. He was a great friend, coworker, and even more and he will be missed. Rest easy
