Beverly "Bev" Joyce Purcell, age 85, of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Lakeshore Assisted Living-Seville, surrounded by family. She was born on January 25, 1940, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late William and Gertrude (Woodruff) Krause.
Bev married her Valentine, Ronald Purcell, Sr., on February 14, 1958, in Ferrysburg, MI. Bev graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1958, and was a life-long resident of the area. After high school, she completed the nursing program at Baker Nursing School and worked as an LPN at a local Pediatrician's office for most of her career.
Bev was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a former member of Christ Community Church where she served in the Steven's Ministry.
Bev loved the outdoors, and she found peace and contentment fishing and traveling, creating many stories and great memories with family and friends. She was a talented artist who made everything from charcoal drawings to hand-painted bracelets, and she had a keen eye for decorating.
Most important to Bev was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bev will be lovingly remembered and missed by her loving husband of 67 years, Ron Purcell, Sr.; and their children: son, Ronald (Nancy) Purcell, Jr. of Grand Haven; daughter, Terri (Richard) Ketner of Montague, MI; six loved grandchildren: Joshua (Kari) Baum, Jacklyn (Todd) Brand, Jenalee (Edward) Gerencer, Tanya (Adam) Mey, Casey (Bryon) Ayers, and Ashley (Kyle) Reynolds; step-granddaughter, Melissa (Ketner) Fica and family; 13 great-grandchildren: Camden and Reed Brand, EJ and Andrew Gerencer, Ayden, Jake, and Brecken Ayers, Harrison and Adylyn Mey, Maizie, Foster, Sadie, and Lottie Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Bramer and Linda Purcell; brother-in-law, Rich (Sandy) Purcell; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara (William) Miller; brother, Roger (Sandra) Krause; and dear friend, Nancy Tysman.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Lakeshore Assisted Living for the loving care given to Bev, and Trinity Health at Home Hospice for their care and support.
The family invites friends to join them for a Memorial Visitation for Bev on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
