1959 - 2022

Cynthia "Cindy" Joan McWilliams, age 63 of Grand Haven, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was born on May 2, 1959, in Grand Haven, Michigan, to Glen and Joan (Scott) Gray. Cindy married the love of her life, Daniel McWilliams, on April 9, 1983, in Grand Haven.

Cindy graduated from Grand Haven High School and was a life-long resident of the area. She worked for D&W grocery store for 15 years and worked reception in the X-ray department at North Ottawa Community Hospital for 18 years. Cindy recently retired from Grand Haven Area Public Schools, working in the cafeteria at Peach Plains Elementary School. She was so passionate about working with the children and found great joy working at the school.

Cindy's passions were gardening, being with her friends, boating, going to the beach, skiing and camping. Her love for her grandchildren, Winny and Gus, was undeniable and they were the light of her life. Cindy enjoyed traveling, and her family was of great importance to her. She was a proud Gift of Life Donor.

Cindy is lovingly remembered and will be forever missed by her husband of 39 years, Daniel; their two children, Mitchell (Elizabeth) McWilliams of Estes Park, Colorado, and Amey McWilliams of Morris, Illiniois; her two beloved grandchildren, August and Winifred McWilliams; her mother, Joan Gray of Grand Haven; three sisters: Jane (Timothy) Bennett, Laura (Thomas) Berg, Sara (William) Collins; her brother, Jeff (Marie) Gray; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Gray; a brother, Glen Michael Gray; two nephews, Adam and Nathan Bennett; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.

The Memorial Service for Cindy will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2022, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitations will be held on Thursday, May 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday, both at the funeral home.
