Donald Pringnitz Obituary

Donald Carl Pringnitz, age 75 of Grand Haven, passed away on August 18, 2021, at home. He was born on April 7, 1946, in Courcelles, Belgium, to Carl and Azema (De Vos) Pringnitz.

After the family's move to the United States, and upon graduation from high school, Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967, during the Vietnam War Era. He moved from Cloverville, Michigan, to Grand Haven in 1963 and worked as a CNC machine operator for Herman Miller, retiring in 2008.

Don was a member of and attended St. John's Lutheran Church, and was also member and chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, spearheading fundraising efforts in Munising, Michigan. Don was a lifetime member of the VFW Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326, and member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28. In the community, he was known as being a "social butterfly" who enjoyed meeting up with the guys for coffee, and traveling up north to the U.P. to his vacation home in Munising.

Don is lovingly remembered and missed by his life partner and friend, Janet Purwin of Grand Haven; his son, Ryan Pringnitz (Ana Baker) of Portage, Michigan; his brother, Darnell (Nancy) Pringnitz of Grand Haven; and his niece, Lisa (Mike) Lepo. In addition to his parents, Carl and Azema Pringnitz, Don was also preceded in death by his son, Kyle Pringnitz, in 1989; and his nephew, Todd Pringnitz, in 2019.

The Memorial Service for Don will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kurt Wenzelburger officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the VFW Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326 following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Grand Rapids Veterans Home. Mr. Pringnitz I wish I could have spoken to you more the day i met you, I noticed you were a veteran but didn't want to get to close or talk to you due to having chest congestion.. you never know these days and i didn't want to get you sick. Unfortunately you passed just 2 days after meeting you. I was looking forward to seeing you today I always look forward to speaking to veterans that served before my time. I honestly don't know you or your history but wish I could have had just a little time speaking to you. R.I.P brother. Til Valhalla.

My heart goes out to his lovely lady and family.
