Elizabeth Styx, age 90, of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Robbinswood Assisted Living. She was born on July 6, 1934, in Grand Haven, Michigan, to the late Marinus and Louisa (Bryant) Schippers.
Elizabeth married Donald William Styx on February 25, 1984, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they were blessed with nearly 38 years of happy marriage. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2022.
Elizabeth graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1952. She began her working years working at Richerdt's Gift Shop and Michigan Bell Telephone Company. Elizabeth then served as the former director of Love Inc. in their beginning years and finished her career working as an insurance salesperson in Big Rapids up until her retirement.
Elizabeth was a long-time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and was an avid reader who loved working in her flower garden and going golfing. She was also a hobbyist photographer and had great interest in Genealogy.
Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two sons, Jon and Bruce Brosseit; step-children, Lynn (Horace) Thompson and Jason (Megan) Styx; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Bekins and Edna Schut; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; four sisters: Nina Otto, Alice Polich, Marie Plant, and Tillie Spangler; three brothers: Marinus, James, and Donald Schippers; and brother-in-law, Howard Bekins.
The Memorial Service for Elizabeth will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ with Pastor Matthew Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Memorial Garden.
