Mary Jo Morgan, age 81, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 26th, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on March 24, 1944, in Bay City, Michigan, she was welcomed into the world by her parents, Joseph and Beulah LaMere. On January 23, 1965, Mary was united in marriage to Richard Morgan in Essexville, Michigan. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Mary devoted her life to raising her four children and caring for her family. She worked alongside her husband in building their homes over the years, contributing her creativity and skill through designing, staining, painting, and decorating. Her dedication helped create a warm and lasting foundation for the future.
Mary found joy in being near water, whether splashing with her family for countless hours in the backyard pool, relaxing on the beaches of Lake Michigan under the sun, or soaking in a quiet bath at the end of the day. She also held a deep appreciation for flowers, tending to her yard with care, however, she truly appreciated when friends and family would offer flowers as gifts, which she would display with pride for all to enjoy.
Above all, Mary's greatest passion was caring for others. She dedicated herself to ensuring that those around her were comfortable, supported, and loved. She cherished her lifelong friend, Robin Spegel, as well as her many hometown friends, who remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Mary had four beautiful children: Michael (Karin) Morgan, Anne Morgan, Steven (Marlo) Morgan, and Kevin Morgan; eight wonderful grandchildren: Kailey, Lauren, Jared, Justin, Jessica, Jeremy, Jason, Jordan; and two sisters, Ann (Larry) Van Tol and Lynne (Dale) Wilson. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Mary will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 12 p.m. (noon) to 3 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Mary will be laid to rest at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery alongside her husband, Richard, and their son, Kevin.
