Michael "Mick" Lester Osterberger, age 84, of Grand Haven, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. He was born on June 17, 1941, in Chicago, IL, the first of four sons, to the late Bill and Grace (Alderman) Osterberger.
Mick grew up in Chicago and attended Northern University in DeKalb, IL. He then joined the US Air Force and proudly served his country from 1964 to 1968, where he learned Russian and spent one year in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he met and later married Nancy Brenner on January 25, 1969, in Rolling Meadows, IL, and they were blessed with two wonderful children. Mick and Nancy eventually moved to Michigan in December of 1978 where they put down their roots. They became faithful members of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Parish where they were involved in Marriage Encounter & Charismatic Prayer meetings and Mick served as Eucharistic Minister and Celebrant Assistant.
Mick was a dedicated, hard worker who loved classical music and reading a variety of books. He also enjoyed collecting dragons, castles, and fantasy figures. After his retirement as an electrical engineer, he very much enjoyed reconnecting and keeping in touch with scattered family.
Mick will be forever remembered and missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Nancy; and their two children, Betsy Trisch and Adam Osterberger of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Kylie and Abbey Trisch; his brother, Roger Osterberger; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Kevin and Larry Osterberger.
The Funeral Service for Mick will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Folds of Honor.
