Daniel Applegate

Applegate, Daniel 7/11/1949 - 4/1/2023 Grand Rapids, Michigan Daniel Arthur Applegate passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2023. He was born on July 11, 1949, to Philip and Mary Jane. Dan worked as an architectural designer. His designs were frequently featured in the Grand Rapids Parade of Homes. Dan was a talented artist. His drawings, which have been displayed in many establishments throughout Michigan, included Michigan lighthouses and landmarks. Aside from his family and friends, Dan's greatest joy came from his cabin on 80 beautiful acres in the Upper Peninsula. He enjoyed watching wildlife and visiting natural and archaeological sites. Dan also had a great love for the music of his generation. Dan had countless friends everywhere he lived or frequented. Always caring and concerned for others, Dan greatly appreciated his time with his friends and was thankful for all of their support. It is an understatement to say that he will be missed. He is survived by his sister, Carol, and his son, Dan (Washington, D.C.), of whom he was especially proud. Per Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest with his family at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids. A public celebration of his life will be held in the summer of 2023 with details to be announced.
