Kallio, Eugene Eugene "Gene" Kallio , age 89, of Rockford, passed away on July 22, 2021 in Rockford, MI. He was born on November 25, 1931 to George and Eva (Whitaker) Kallio in Roxanna, Kentucky. Eugene served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as an Aviation Machinist. He was self employed and worked as a construction manager and realtor for twenty-five years. Gene was a member of the local Kiwanis clubs of Mason, Wyoming, and Grand Rapids. He served each in various capacities including President and Treasurer, and while a resident of Wyoming, served as State Administrator of the Kiwanis sponsored High School Key Club program. Eugene was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and was a Scout Master. He enjoyed photography as a hobbyist and wedding photographer. Eugene also enjoyed making wine and was active with the West Michigan Wine Club for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed classical music, wine, birds, the out-of-doors, and above all the home he envisioned, built and lived in with his wife for thirty-five years. Eugene is survived by his loving wife Shirley; and son, Alexander (Juliana) Kallio. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy Zenoni, Georgia Wilder, Lois Bowman. So sorry to hear of Gene's death, but know he had a very full life! We were next door neighbors in Wyoming,Michigan from 1977-1986, and our sons were best friends...loved learning from Gene and his wife Shirley...our heartfelt condolences to Shirley, and his son, Alex, and his wife.. may you all remind yourselves of all the Dventures you shared....
