Dykstra, Lois 11/22/2021 Grand Rapids Lois Dykstra, 85, passed away peacefully in Grand Rapids on November 22 after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by friends and family and sung into heaven by her grandchildren. Lois graduated from Calvin University with majors in Music and English. She spent most of her married life in Rochester, NY where her husband was employed by Eastman Kodak company. There she raised a family and used her teaching skills to volunteer in church education, day school reading programs, English as a Second Language, and the Zuni, NM Mission School. After returning to Western Michigan in 2005 she delighted in being near her grandchildren and sending them long, encouraging emails. Lois was predeceased by a son, Bryan, and a daughter, Susan. She is survived by Thomas, her husband for 62 years, daughter Linda Jonker (Peter) of Grand Rapids, three grandchildren, Kat, Patrick, and Abby, and her special life-long friend Shirley Hoogeboom. A Service of Celebration will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, November 29 at the LaGrave Ave. Christian Reformed Church. The service will be live-streamed. Informal gathering will be before and after the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Susan and Bryan Dykstra Scholarships at Calvin University. In consideration of the current Covid conditions, the family requests that attendees wear masks when and where appropriate.

My condolences to Tom and his family. I have pleasant memories of visiting you in Rochester where you graciously served me excellent Sunday meals and Christian fellowship. May God Be near to Tom and his family.
