Veltman, Paul Nelson Grand Rapids, Michigan Paul Nelson Veltman passed away peacefully, September 21, 2021. He was born to Rev. Nelson and Lois Veltman September 4, 1945 in Drenthe, MI. He graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High, Calvin College and received a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. Paul was the founder and President of Veltman Investment Management in Grand Rapids, MI. He founded the practice with the vision of offering excellent personal service and financial counsel with the highest level of integrity. Through his company, Paul helped many individuals enjoy a confident retirement. He had many friends professionally and personally. Paul lived life to the fullest. He was equally passionate about his career and his love for baseball and tennis. He loved to travel and often recalled memories of African safaris that he treasured. He worked and played with intensity. Paul excelled as a baseball pitcher in high school and college. In 1967, he was recruited to try out as a pitcher for the LA Dodgers. Spending several months of the year in his home in Florida, Paul chose to spend the majority of his day outdoors, playing tennis or boating. Paul was preceded in death by his brother James Veltman and his grandson Zachary Veltman. He is survived by his wife Carol of 54 years, son Scott (Deb) Veltman, daughter Christen Ridgeway, grandchildren Ashleigh (Jonathan) Tomlinson, Alex Veltman, Ciara Ridgeway, and Samantha Ridgeway, sisters Ruth Ruiter, Phyllis (Gerard) Wordhouse, and Mary (Mel) Rose. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 28, at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 700 Ethel St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI, interment at Cascade Cemetery. Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys will officiate. Masking is required. Visitation will be Monday, September 27, from 4 to 7 pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI and from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church prior to the service. Paul was a true friend and wonderful person. In spite of his cancer he never complained. I have and will continue to remember our times together.
