Ronald A. Vierheilig, age 85 of Howard City, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Mary Kathleen Vierheilig. Ronald is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Kelly Cooper Vierheilig; children, Mariann (Steve) Umlor, Kenneth (Sheryl) Vierheilig, Thomas Cooper, James (JoAnne) Cooper; grandchildren, Nitin (Kellie) Pereira, Varun (Maria) Gupta, Kyle (Liz) Towns, Ben Umlor, Grace (Lee) VanDenBrink, Kurt Vierheilig, Rachel Vierheilig, Hannah Vierheilig, Caitlin (Brad) Bickings, Stephanie (Robert) Byrnes, Allison and Zachary Jeffries, Grant Cooper; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Carole; and several nieces and nephews. Ronald served on the Grand Rapids Police Department where he retired as a Lieutenant after a lifetime of service. Ron co-owned with his first wife Mary Kathleen, Meyers Hobby Shop in Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation one-hour prior. Rev. Tony Russo presiding. Interment Fairplains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert of Newminster Church, or Christ the King-St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish, 9596 Reed Rd, Howard City, MI 49329.
