In Loving Memory of Chester "Shorty" L. Lewis Jr.

Chester "Shorty" L. Lewis Jr., age 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Red Wing, MN, on September 14th, 2025, just two months after making the city his new residence. He was born in Three Rivers, MI, on November 9th, 1958.

After a courageous three-year battle with kidney cancer, Shorty left this earthly life to enter his heavenly home. Echoing the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought a good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." (NKJV), he demonstrated perseverance and hope until the end.

You could always count on Shorty. He was a man of many talents; steadfast, knowledgeable, and ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. As the lifelong owner of Chet's Hobby Shop, he made a meaningful impact on his community and influenced many lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chet and Zola Lewis, and his half-brother, Bill Burchard. Shorty's legacy lives on in his devoted wife of 33 years, Barbara; his stepdaughters, Megan (Justin) Pazdernik and Sarah Carsello; half-sisters Lola Seekman and Joanna Gillespie; a step-grandchild; a niece; and two nephews.

At Shorty's request, a celebration of life will be held at Balsam Hall on October 11th, 2025, at 10 a.m., where friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor his memory. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Shorty's kindness, strength, and faith will long be remembered by all whose lives he touched.
