LaVanche Boedigheimer
1932-2024
LaVanche Boedigheimer, age 92, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN.
LaVanche Cynthia Faye Fossen was born July 31, 1932, to Francis and Constance (Huseby) Fossen in Twin Valley, Minnesota, the second of three children. She graduated from high school at age 16, taking a year off before attending nursing school and becoming an LPN. She wore her starched white uniforms and cap with pride. The majority of her 40 plus year nursing career was spent as a geriatrics nurse in long-term care, where her compassion made her a favorite with patients, residents and staff.
She married the love of her life, Norbert Boedigheimer, on May 4, 1954. Mom was a wonderful cook. She hosted countless big family meals, filled with laughter and stories. She was known for her Christmas trays of goodies prepared for family, friends and co-workers, involving her occasionally reluctant children, in what is now a happy memory.
Life changed in 2022 with the heart-breaking loss of her son and primary caregiver Kelly. She moved into a senior village apartment, and remained strong and independent to the end, fighting off several medical issues. She passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024.
Her parents Francis and Constance Fossen, husband Norbert Boedigheimer, brother Harlem Fossen, and son Kelly Boedigheimer preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children Cheryl (Larry), Michael (Kelly), and Rodney (Renee). Grandchildren Sharina (Chris), Brian (Rebecca), Robynn (Billy), Marlena, Morgen (Jeremy), and Branden (Dana). Great-grandchildren Wyatt, Brett, Ethan, Caleb, Hunter, and Ryleigh. Brother Alden "Bud". Goddaughter Crystal, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 28, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 PM at Itasca Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN. Reverend David N. Anderson will officiate.
