Mary Polovina
1957 - 2025
It is with profound sadness that the family of Mary Polovina announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at age 68 in her home. Mary is survived by her son, Milo (Tara Rajala) Polovina and her grandchildren Taylor, Brielle, Mylie and Milo III Polovina, who lovingly called her Mimi. Mary was born on August 7, 1957 in Grand Rapids, MN to Joe Herr (still living strong at 101 years old) and Loretta Herr (who gained her heavenly wings on 9/7/2017). Mary is survived by her two sisters, Patty (Tom) Heaton and Carol (Don) Pickett; one brother, Alvin (Barb) Herr; and faithful dog, Molly. Beyond this, Mary has many extended family members and friends that will deeply mourn her loss.
Mary had the heart of gold and never stopped caring about other people, she was a true caretaker for others and her son and grandchildren were at the forefront of her life. Mary would go without just to ensure that others close to her were happy and taken care of. Her selflessness never went unnoticed and she touched the lives of many around her. Her dedication to others was incredible.
Mary had to fight a hard battle in life but she was one of the strongest women you would have ever met. Her confidence and strength shined from within and though Mary didn't back down from anyone or anything that stood in her way. She did it all with love and compassion. Her contagious laugh, witty humor, and sassy attitude would brighten up any room she entered.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength that will continue to guide and inspire us. Those who knew Mary know that to have been a part of her life was special and we will be forever grateful for the beautiful years that she gave us and will continue to carry her strength and memory in our hearts forever and always.
All of those that Mary loved and touched deeply, please join us celebrating her life on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, with a visitation at 10 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cohasset, MN, followed by the 11 AM funeral service. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
