Wallace Fox Obituary

Wallace (Wally) James Fox, age 82, ascended to eternal life on September 19th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the St.Cloud VA Medical Center.

Born on June 17th, 1943 in Grand Rapids, MN, Wally was the son of Walter and Golda Fox. He grew up in Grand Rapids, graduated from the AG school, and soon married Carol (Lease) Fox, with whom he had four children: Sheila, Becky, Tammy, and Cody. Wally's dedication to his country led him to serve in the Army National Reserve as a tank mechanic and cook. After his honorable discharge in 1965, Wally pursued his passion for cooking at the Harbor in Grand Rapids for many years. Following the passing of his first wife, Carol, Wally married Peggy (Whirley) Fox in 1980, welcoming her two sons, Curt and Mike, into their loving family. Wally and Peggy raised their six children in Grand Rapids, where Wally worked at Bladin Paper Company until his retirement in 2001.

Wally's zest for life was evident in his love for speed, which began in his early years spent in his fathers garage with lifelong friend Dick Maness. This passion led him to dirt track racing, where his cars adorned with the iconic Snoopy, becoming a beloved fixture. Wally's legacy extended beyond his racing accomplishments, as he served as President for Range Rod & Street Machine Car Club and was inducted into the Grand Rapids Speedway Hall of Fame in 2021.

Wally's greatest joy however, was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished by his 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Whether attending birthday parties or events, Wally's presence was a constant source of encouragement and joy.

Wally is survived by his wife, Peggy Fox; children Sheila DeGuiseppi (John), Curt Jenner (Joanne), Becky Fritz (Johnny Martin), Mike Jenner (Missy), Tammy Rabey, and Cody Fox (Jeanine); 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Golda Fox; brothers Walt Fox and Ray Fox (Karen).

Wally is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Golda Fox; late wife Carol Fox; sisters Patsy Herschbach and Joy Webb; sister in-laws Deloris Fox, Diana Stender (Kenneth), Donna Patterson (Tom); brother in-law David Whirley (Diane).

Though Wally will be deeply missed, Wally's wit, humor, and love for his family will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him. Wally's impact on the lives of those he touched will be forever remembered, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. In celebration of his life, the family invites all to wear orange, a testament to Wally's vibrant spirit and favorite color.
