DENNIS DYRDAHL
Beloved husband, father, and friend, Dennis "Doc" Dyrdahl, 88, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Born in Hazel Run on May 5, 1936, to Albin and Theressa (Vold) Dyrdahl, Doc was the fourth child born to the couple after three others had passed away after childbirth. He was baptized and confirmed at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Doc was united in marriage to Sharon Listul on May 14, 1955, also at Hazel Run Lutheran Church, and the couple had three children: Pam, Allen, and Randy.

In his free time, Doc was also a janitor at Hazel Run School. He started Dyrdahl Lumber in 1982 and served as the mayor of Hazel Run for decades, starting at age 19, the youngest mayor in Minnesota at the time. Doc served on many boards including MVTV, the bank, was a trustee and board member at Hazel Run Lutheran Church, and was Chief of the Hazel Run Volunteer Fire Department. Doc loved his deer hunting trips to Wyoming that spanned 30 years and spent many hours completing jigsaw puzzles.
In 1992, Doc married Kathryn (Risa) Schmidt and they built a happy life together, spending 30 years wintering in Arizona, finding many new friends, boating on the Colorado River, and golfing. In 2003, the couple built a new home at Norway Lake and spent many happy years in retirement.
Preceding Doc in death were his parents, Albin and Theressa Dyrdahl; three infant siblings; wife, Sharon in 1991, and sister-in-law, Diane Hofteig in 2024.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children, Pam (Greg) Rogge, Allen (Nancy) Dyrdahl, and Randy (Sheila) Dyrdahl; step-children, Beth Schmidt, James Schmidt, Nathan (Joanie) Schmidt; grandchildren, Ryan (Lori) Rogge, Mindy (Pat) Nelson, Brandon Rogge, Heather (Luke) Sannerud, Lacey (Nic) Hempel, Sarah (Mike) Jensen, Derek (Megan) Dyrdahl, Devon (Kenady) Dyrdahl, Danielle (Derek) Naab, Makayla Dyrdahl, Matt Johnson, and Mackenzie Dyrdahl; 14 great-grandchildren, and step-granddaughter, Kathryn Schmidt.
