LAVONNE OLSEN

LAVONNE OLSEN LaVonne Olsen of Granite Falls died on December 9, 2023, at Granite Falls Avera Hospital at the age of 83 surrounded by her family. Her passion for those she loved and adored will not be forgotten. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Granite Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the the service at the funeral home. LaVonne Maxine (Borg) Olsen was born August 4, 1940, at the family residence in Wegdahl. She was born to Julius and Myrtle (Milbeck) Borg. She was baptized at the family residence and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She grew up with her three sisters and brother on the outskirts of Montevideo in Wegdahl. She attended and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1959. LaVonne attended cosmetology school in Fergus Falls and graduated from there in 1960. After graduation, she worked in Montevideo doing hair for several years. On February 21, 1971, she was united in marriage to Darrol Olsen. They made their home and built together a successful farm in Granite Falls. They were married for 52 years. LaVonne was a wonderful farm wife and mother. Most of her married life LaVonne cared for the home and made sure her family was happy and healthy. Often while her husband and his farm hands worked in the fields, LaVonne was cooking and baking for them. LaVonne took pride helping on the farm and tending to the home. In 1974, she welcomed their first child, Darrin and then in 1979 their twin girls, Jennifer and Jessica, were born. LaVonne's pride and joy were her children and she wanted the best for each of them. The love she had for everyone close to her was pure and special. As LaVonne's age and health got the best of her, she looked forward to when family and friends could visit on the farm and spend time with her. She enjoyed those special times, and she knew she had several people that really cared for her. LaVonne is survived by her husband, Darrol Olsen, of Granite Falls; children, Darrin Olsen and Jessica Olsen of Granite Falls, and Jennifer Olsen of Bennington, Neb.; sister, Audrey Tjosaas of Montevideo; brother, Jerry Borg of Watson; sister, Marilyn Dahl of Burnsville; many nieces and nephews and extended family. LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Myrtle Borg; her mother-in-law and father-in-law Royal and Jesse Olsen; her sister, Delores Rhode; her brother-in-law, Earl Rhode; her sister-in-law, Sandra Olson; her brother-in-law, Derrold Dahl; her sister-in-law, Darlene Borg; her brother-in-law Curtis Tjosaas; and her nephew and godson, Bradley Borg.
