MAXINE MILLS Obituary

MAXINE MILLS Maxine Mills of Montevideo died on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 1 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Sam Kautz officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. Visitation with the family was on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home with a prayer service held at 5:30 p.m. Visitation continued one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Maxine Mills was born in Clarkfield to Edwin and Ruth (Anundson) Hagen. She was baptized at Black Oak Lake Church, rural Montevideo, and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo. She attended school in Granite Falls and graduated from Granite Falls High School. Following high school, she worked as a dental assistant. On February 15, 1958, Maxine was united in marriage to Lynn Mills at Black Oak Lake Church. They had two children together: Robyn and Tom. Maxine stayed at home with Robyn and Tom and helped on the farm. When Tom was in high school, she went to work part time at various business in Montevideo including Country Cobbler, Hardware Hank, Copper Glen, and French Glass. Maxine was an active member of Rosewood Methodist and then Montevideo United Methodist. She also enjoyed volunteering at the clinic as a receptionist. She enjoyed homemakers group, book club, birthday club, and quilting. She often hosted coffee parties at her house with family and friends. Lynn and Maxine enjoyed numerous bus tours and travel. Their favorite trips were to Norway and Alaska. She also liked to keep up with the news and current events, something she inherited from her father. Above all Maxine cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maxine is survived by her son, Tom of Millington, Tenn.; grandchildren: Melissa (Allen) Anderson, Carroll, Iowa, Sarah (Matt) Van Gorp, Montevideo, Megan Mills, Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren: Jonas and Aubrey Anderson, Oliver, Oscar, and Crosby Van Gorp; son-in-law, Greg Brown; sisters: Dianne (Jim) Barber, Granite Falls, Barb (Eldon) Lund, Montevideo, Pauline (Roger) Nelson, Brownsville, Texas; sisters-in-law: Dianne Hagen, Hutchinson, Barb Hagen, Greensboro, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynn; daughter, Robyn; and brothers: Donald and David. Arrangements were with Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home of Montevideo.

Maxine and Lynn gave us many memories to cherish while we rented Lynn´s family house on their farm. Our kids loved their time on the farm-a new experience. They made us feel so welcome in our new home, memories we´ll never forget.
