Avis Perry Obituary
Judith Gap —Thursday, May 21, Avis Perry left her body and other earthly possessions behind and received the gift of eternal life promised by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Avis was born November 12th, 1924 in Benchland, Montana to Gordon and Vivian (Miller) Ridgeway. She attended school in Windham and after graduation continued her education at Northern Montana College in Havre, earning her degree in Accounting. After college she moved to Great Falls and put her education to work at the smelter. In June of 1946, Avis married Jack Perry and shared the next 58 years with him; first in the Pig Eye Basin above Utica, then north of Dupuyer, then back to Pig Eye, then west of Buffalo, and then in 1959 to Timber Creek east of Judith Gap. Each community provided a wealth of lifelong friendships.
Avis's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Avis loved to play cards and was a real sports fan. For many years, she was always at the rodeo in Harlo on the 4th, in Lewistown for the tournaments, and sitting in the same spot for all the home games. Always the bookkeeper, she spent many years working for Alvin and Zelinda Songer and helped friends and family with their tax returns.
She is survived by her son Dick (Joleen) Perry of Judith Gap, grandson Jack (Ruth) Perry and their boys Jim and Joe of Billings, granddaughters Valerie Perry of Helena and Elizabeth (Craig) Barber and their girls Jacklynn, Charmayn, and Liberty of Bozeman, grandson Bill (Devney) Perry and their son Will of Bozeman, sister-in-law Sylvan Ridgeway of Lewistown, and brother-in-law Bill Perry of Bozeman, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and shirttail relatives.
Avis was preceded in death by her husband Jack, brothers Russ and John and sister-in-law Emma Ridgeway, brother-in-law Ken and sisters-in-law Pick and Betty Perry.
At her request, her remains have been cremated and she will have no funeral. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice and they may be left with the Perkins Funeral Home, PO Box 313 Harlowton, MT 59036. Condolences for the family may be posted on-line at www.perkinsfuneralandcremation.com.
