Edwin Kaushagen

Brookfield, Wis. —Edwin Kaushagen, 78, was born in Chester on July 6, 1934. He died in a Brookfield, Wis., hospital May 12 , 2013. He attended both Northern and Western Montana Colleges. He began teaching at rural Glen Lake following his marriage to Leona Sanford on July 23, 1954. Their daughter Jan (Mike) Steele was born in 1955. After returning to Western for his education degree, he taught at St. Regis and Paxson in Missoula. Their second child Mark (Dee Ann) was born in 1959. In 1971, after working for the Forest Service summers, he went full time. He worked in Missoula, Kettle Falls, Wash., Phoenix and Milwaukee, Wis. He is also survived by his sister, Ingrid Joy; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A third great-grandchild will be born in June.

Edwin and Leona were divorced in l983. He married Barbara Meissner in l984, and she survives him at the family home in Butler, Wis.

Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at the present time.
