Fern Myhre Obituary
Great Falls - Fern LaVere (Wicken) Myhre passed away on July 27, 2018 in Great Falls, Montana at the age of 92. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church located at 1009 18th Avenue SW in Great Falls. Burial will follow at Manchester Cemetery.
Fern was born January 24, 1926, in Minnewauken, North Dakota to William Carl and Leora Grace (Knowlton) Wicken. She graduated from Minnewauken High School in 1944. She married Richard Maurice Myhre on November 11, 1945, and they lived in Minot, North Dakota. They moved to Great Falls in 1947 and started their family of four children, Richard "Dik" Lee, Judyth "Jude" LaVere, Rachelle "Shelly" Eloyce, and Laura "Laurie" Jean.
Fern and Richard became members of Bethel Lutheran Church in 1964. They were also active members of Eagles, Elks and Moose Lodges and the Senior Citizens Center. Fern enjoyed traveling, sewing, rug hooking, golf and Bingo. In 1985, she retired from Montana District Synod as secretary to Bishop Wick and Pastor Gene Nielson.
Fern is survived by her three daughters, Jude Myhre, Shelly (Leonard) Murphy and Laura (Russ) Schade; sisters Wilma "Tippy" (William) Tussey, Marlys "Marty" Allen; brothers Thomas "Tommy" Wicken and David "Dave" Wicken; 32 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; in-laws; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death include her loving husband Richard Maurice Myhre; son Richard "Dik"; her parents, sisters, brothers, in-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
