Janet Duffner Obituary
Plains —Janet Kathleen Duffner passed from this life on Monday, July 15 near Paradise, Montana in a tragic automobile crash.
She was born to Leonard and Ila Jean Lewis on the 10th of November 1959 in Boulder, Colorado, the 3rd of five children. She was preceded in death by her sister Deborah Eileen. She is survived by her brothers Larry of Huson and Tim of Spokane, Washington , her sister Rebecca Jean Kobos of Missoula, her maternal grandmother, Edna Criger of Benkelman, Nebraska and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She moved, with her family, to Missoula in May of 1960. She attended Target Range Grade School, Hellgate High School, Stevensville High School and completed her GED and earned her LPN license in Great Falls.
She was baptized into Christ while living at home in Stevensville.
She married Richard Lyman Thurman on 17 July 1977. They had two children, Sarah and Jacob of Missoula. Sarah has two children, Caleb and Quinn IlaJean Guhl.
She married John A. Duffner on 26 June 1999. John's children are John A. Jr., Jennifer Brandal, Skye, Thomas and Kristin Duffner and Stephanie McDonald.
Kathy and John were active in volunteer work with the Red Cross, YWAM and NOMADS. Kathy worked as a nurse in Great Falls and Plains. She was the manager of New Horizons assisted living center in Plains and was Assistant Manager of The Waterford in Helena, Montana. Kathy dedicated her life to serving/helping others, especially those who needed more.
Services will be at the Plains Bible Chapel (across the river at 8 Combest Creek Rd.) with retired Pastor Wendell Ankeny from Port Townsend, Washinton, officiating.
We love you Kathy and look forward to seeing you "on the other side".

I, too worked with Kathy at the Great Falls Clinic. Was always so nice to see her smiling face each day! What a terrible loss. To her family and friends, my condolences. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Oh my gosh what a terrible tragedy. She was a great long time friend and co-worker.I'm so glad we we able to visit with her and John in Plains. Sarah,Jake and John God's blessings. Kathy was my dear friend all through high school, and when I lived in Great Falls, during the 80's. She was one of the gentlest people I have ever encountered and will forever have a special place in my heart.
