Julia Goulet Obituary

Julia (Paliga) Goulet, 90, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Feb. 28 at her son's home in Great Falls.
Her memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Julia was born Dec. 28, 1919, to John and Julia Paliga in Stockett, Mont., where she was raised and educated, graduating from Centerville High School in 1938.
She moved to Spokane and worked there at the Top Hat restaurant for a short time. In 1944, she married Howard F. Goulet in Choteau. They made their home in Great Falls, the same home she continued to live in until her death.
After her four children were old enough to attend school, Julia went to work for Great Falls Public Schools as a lunch helper at Franklin Elementary School. She continued with the school lunch program there, transferring to West Junior High School as a cook, then to C.M. Russell High School, and finally to Longfellow Elementary as head baker for distribution of baked goods to other schools in the district. She retired from Great Falls Public Schools in 1982.
After retirement, Julia enjoyed traveling with her brothers, spending lots of time with grandchildren and family. She made many fun charter bus trips to Reno and Jackpot, Nev. She traveled by train with her brothers around the perimeter of the United States, including Ellis Island in New York, where her mother came through at 16 years old to start a new life, never to return to her homeland of Czechoslovakia.
Julia is survived by a brother, Andrew Paliga of Great Falls; sons Ronald Goulet of California, Terry Goulet of Washington state, and Gene Goulet and his wife Shirley of Great Falls; a daughter, Charlene Blackwell of Great Falls; grandchildren Howard, Mike, Christine, Julie, Robert P., Roxana, Lori, Edward, Robert H., Melissa, Tyler, Logan T., Heidi and Kayla; and great-grandchildren Chase, Cody, Jolene, Logan J., Jackson, Dohnavan Taylor, Gaije Gaice, Seth, Zach, Tess, Easton, Brandon, Ethan, Ivan and Jordan.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Goulet; sisters Helen Roeben and Mary Jennings, and an infant sister who died at birth; brothers Johnny and Edward "Sonny"; and a grandson, Michael Moore.

To all of Aunt Julia's Family,

Aunt Julia was a special Aunt. I remember all the mornings I sat in her kitchen waiting for the school bus to take me to Great Falls High School in my Freshman year. She was always smiling and always made me feel special. She will always remain in my thoughts.

I made a mistake in my entry. It was Dave and my 50th anniversary. I have a few pictures of her from last summer. What a blessing she was and still is.

To all of Aunt Julie's family,
What a precious aunt she was and will always remain in my memories. So many memories of being at her house and her smile, also helping Wayne bag consumer press papers. Also making it out to our 59th anniversary last summer. I loved her and her smile.
