Kevin Downs Obituary
A celebration of his life is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the family home. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Nicole Downs, and a son, Brendan Downs, both of Great Falls; his father, Kenneth Downs of Lacey, Wash.; a brother, Shaun Downs of Great Falls; a sister, Sarah Edmonds of Monroe, Wash.; and grandparents Bob and Vi Miller of Lacey.
Kevin was born Sept. 22, 1979, the son of Ken and Darla (Ledbetter) Downs, in Spokane, Wash. After attending C.M. Russell High School, he enlisted in the Army and received his training at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He supported the medical response to the Pentagon on 9/11, was assigned to the CSH (Combat Support Hospital), part of the 101st Airborne, and served in Iraq for nine months. He was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., and then returned to Great Falls. Since then, he had worked various nursing positions here.
He married Nicole Oden on Jan. 15, 2000, in Great Falls.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darla; and grandparents Phyllis and James Ledbetter.

My heart broke when I learned this has happened.. I have known Kev since 6th grade! That is a long time.. He was such an incredible person with a huge heart. He will be missed greatly. We will all be with him again someday. My love and condolences to Nikki, Brendan, Shaun, Jen, Ken and any all all who are feeling this enormous loss..

Nichole & Family,
I went to school with Kevin. He was 2yrs behind me, but graduated w/ my best friend. Always thought he was a good guy. Very sorry for your loss. Always sad to hear of such a young life lost. My thoughts and prayer's are w/ you all.

Dear Nikki and family,
My heart goes out to all of you! I went to middle school and high school with Kevin and hung out with his crowd a lot. Kevin was very quiet but very sweet. I will cherish the memories I had with him. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Take care of yourself Nikki and keep your head up. One day we will all see him again!

Kevin was so incredible funny, I loved working with him, and I know that anyone who new him has lost a great friend. My heart sank when I learned of his death, and he is in my prayers everynight. Kevin will truely be missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to meet him.

You don't know me but I went to school with Kevin. And he has been my nurse a few times. My prayers are with his wife, child, and family. He has remained a wonderful person as I knew him when we were younger.
