Leslie Davidson Obituary

FORT BENTON - Leslie Ann (Appleby) Davidson, 50, died of a gunshot wound Thursday in Fort Benton. The shooting is under investigation.
Her memorial service is 3 p.m. Sunday at Fort Benton United Methodist Church. Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Leslie was born June 24, 1959. She was adopted at the age of 2, becoming a member of the Appleby family. She attended school in Fort Benton, playing in the band, competing in basketball and track, and was a member of the swim team in the summers. She briefly held the state high school javelin record.
She graduated in May 1977, and married Michael Davidson in June, shortly before her 18th birthday. Her first two children, Amanda (31) and Justin (27), were raised in Fort Benton during their early years. From 1984 to 1996, Leslie was a claims adjuster for St. Paul Insurance in St. Charles, Mo. She had two more daughters during that time, Samantha (20) and Kailee (15). They returned to Montana and remained here, between Great Falls and Fort Benton.
Leslie enjoyed bowling and spending time with her friends, playing video games and watching movies with her kids, and hunting.
She is survived by her four children; her mother, Winnie Appleby; her sister Susie and her family; and her brother Bob and his family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Appleby; and Mike, who passed away from a heart attack in 2005.

I don't even know how to begin to express my sense of sorrow and loss; not only to myself, but to Leslie's entire family and long list of friends. There is going to be a huge hole left in many, many hearts with the loss of Leslie. I hope that everyone remembers Leslie as being vibrant and full of life. She would give anyone the shirt off her back to anyone who asked or needed it. I am glad I got to share a part of my life with Leslie. I do not know how to put into words my sympathies and sorrow for Leslie's family. I hope Leslie continues to watch over us now as she did when she was here with us. To all of Leslie's friends and family....I am truly, truly sorry. She was loved by many. She will be forever missed.

Sending sincere heartfelt condolences to all who have been touched by Leslie's passing. Our mothers touch our lives as no one else ever will, and when they leave us life is forever changed. Please know that you are in my thoughts, and even though I've not met you personally, I knew your mom. She was one of a kind.

I remember Leslie mostly in those formative teen years at FBHS. She was bright, brash, funny and strong, and wouldn't take guff from anyone. I ache especially for Winnie, her mother, who is a gem of a woman I remember for her faithful involvement in church and the Fort Benton community. Our prayers are for Leslie's family in this terrible, incomprehensible sadness.

Leslie was a heckuva lot of fun to play basketball against during our friendly Cascade-Fort Benton rivalry days in the 70s. I remember her as a free spirit and a competitor on the court. Rest easy, Leslie. My heartfelt condolences to her kids and family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
