Louise Zampich

Great Falls —Louise (Caloud) Zampich, 100, of Great Falls passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at a local assisted living facility.

Per Louise's wishes there will be no services. Her ashes will be placed with Erwin Zampich at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial. O'Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Louise was born to Frank and Marie Caloud on June 2, 1913 in Republic of Czechoslovakia. Louise and her mother immigrated to America on board a French ship called the "Leopoldina" in 1920. Louise was an only child and grew up in Sun River. She attended elementary school in Sun River and graduated from Simms High School in 1931.

In 1932, she moved to Utah to attend Cosmetology School. She returned to Sun River where she met and married her first husband, Steven Cislo, Sr. in 1936. Steven passed away in 1937, leaving Louis alone to raise her son Steven, Jr. In 1939, she married Henry Queen. They had one son, Stanley "Butch" Queen, in 1940. Henry and Louise divorced in 1941.

Louise worked as a laundry clerk and also for the Great Northern Railroad during World War II. She met and married Erwin Zampich in 1945. They worked very hard raising the two young boys.

In 1960, Louise attended nursing school. She graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing Class in Great Falls in 1962. "Nursing was her calling." She worked at the Columbus and Deaconess Hospitals, and later at the Cascade County Convalescent Hospital until she retired in June of 1976.

Louise volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul for many years. She was a member of the Sun River Valley Historical Society and the Great Falls Senior Citizens. She loved to sew, read books, garden and collect dolls.

In June of this year, Louise turned 100 and Bee Hive Homes helped celebrate her birthday with family and friends. She had a wonderful time. Louise was a wonderful caring personshe was always willing to help anyone and everyone.
