Paulette Linabary Obituary

Paulette Jean (Standley) Linabary, 67, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Monday at a local hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory. A memorial service with Eastern Star rites is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, followed by a celebration of her life at Black Eagle Community Center. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Castner Falls Cemetery.
Paulette was born Oct. 2, 1942, in Helena, Mont., to Lester and Bertha (Fraser) Standley. The family moved to Cascade, Mont., in 1944. Paulette received her grade-school education at Travis School and graduated from Cascade High School in 1960. She attended the University of Montana in Missoula, and transferred to Northern Montana College in Havre, where she received a two-year teaching degree.
After receiving her two-year teaching degree, Paulette taught at Augusta for one year. She attended summer school and took a year off from teaching to complete her four-year degree at Eastern Montana College in Billings. She taught at Collins School in Black Eagle, and Lowell and Sunnyside schools in Great Falls.
Following her retirement from teaching after 37 years, in 1999, Paulette enjoyed attending meetings of the many organizations to which she belonged: Christ's Church on the Hill, where she was organist and a deacon and served on many committees for the betterment of the church; the Christian Women's Club, the Cascade Chapter No. 101, OES as organist and many other offices including worthy matron; Delta Kappa Gamma sorority; the Retired Educators Organization; Nile Club and the Black Eagle Civic Club. She wrote the Castner Falls News for the Cascade Courier, and also was very diligent in sending cards to friends and family for birthdays, illness and sympathy.
Many young people learned the basics of piano-playing from Paulette. She always was willing to chauffeur nondrivers and others to church and meetings, and time spent playing pinochle with a group of ladies was thoroughly enjoyed by her.
Paulette also worked part-time at the family business, the Udder Co., to help with billing and other necessary items. She especially loved spending time with family and friends, and took pride in her granddaughters' accomplishments through the years. She was instrumental in planning celebrations for milestone birthdays and family reunions.
Paulette is survived by one son, Jeff (Trina) Linabary of Great Falls; three sisters, Jan (Jerry) Albright of Shelby, Louise (Bob) Falk of Great Falls, and Kathy (Doug) James of Billings; two granddaughters, Jasmine (and fiancé Nate Chute) of Bigfork, and Jenaveve Linabary of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by parents Lester and Bertha (Fraser) Standley; two sisters, Elaine Schuchard and Becky Olsen; brothers-in-law Don Schuchard and Mike Webster; and nephew Kirby Albright.
Paulette suffered from a fall in her home earlier this year and entered the hospital for surgery to repair a broken hip. After being in and out of intensive care, she was transferred to Advanced Care Hospital in Billings and was released March 31 to receive therapy at Missouri River Manor. She was very happy to be able to attend church on Easter Sunday and to enjoy dinner and visiting with family in the afternoon. Early in the morning on Monday, April 5, she suffered a setback and passed away.
Paulette is greatly missed already, and we remember her with much love and thankfulness for having her in our lives.
Memorials in Paulette's name are suggested to Christ's Church on the Hill, 809 Smelter Ave., Great Falls, MT 59404; or the donor's choice.
Condolences may be posted online at www.croxfordfuneralhome.com and/or www.gftribune.com/obituaries.

Mrs. Linabary, as I called her, was my third grade teacher at Lowell school in 1969 I believe. I remember that she brought a baby lamb to school and our class put on a play of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. I played the little Billy Goat. I also made butter for the first time. She was a fun teacher. My condolences to her family.

It is with great sorrow that I note the passing of a great friend. Paulette and I went through high school together and had a "lot" of fun in any activity we participated in mainly because of her bright spirit. Those memories are special. My condolences to her family.

Mrs. Linabary (I never could get used to calling her Paulette) was also my 3rd Grade Teacher in 1969-70. She also taught my sister and I to play the piano.......I never really wanted to play; but she made it fun and pushed me to a level I did not know that I had. During our 3rd Grade Class; there was another student; named Buddy Williams and we used to give her a pretty hard time. She got so upset with us in class one day that she cried and again; that is a moment I will never forget because I realized my actions had consequences. My mother made me write her a note of apology; she wrote back to me and we have traded Christmas cards every year since I was old enough to send them. She used to bring in small animals from the family farm and I recall a little lamb our class took care of (I was afraid of it)....she also taught us to make apple-butter and took us to the Air Force Base to see the planes...I have a picture of our class somewhere! She was very special and patient and tough all in one and I will miss those annual Christmas cards that kept me up on her and her entire family! My guess is that she touched more lives than we will ever see entries in this guestbook! Love & Prayers in her very accomplished and giving life! I wish I could be there today for the service.
God Bless you all.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Although I only knew Paulette for the last week of her life, I had come to learn that she was a very sweet and caring person. I hope you can all find comfort in knowing she is in a better place, and that it all happened so fast that she did not suffer. Nor did she go alone, I was right by her side, holding her hand, and talking to her. Just to let her know she was not alone. Remember to keep her memories alive. God bless you all.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I always enjoyed reading Paulette's column in the Courier. Although we never met, I feel like I knew her through her column and I am very saddened by her passing.

May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.

Jeff, Wonderful thoughts and memories growing up across the road from you and your great MOM. She was a great neighbor and always a second mom to us whenever we needed one. Can ever remember her calling for you to get home after late night playtimes, driving us to Sunday School, basketball games on her dirt driveway, sleepovers with you where I first experienced peanut butter on her pancakes and oh my god - Aunt Jemina syrup. You were a great friend and I thank you for sharing your Mom with me. May She Rest in Peace.

Jeff and family all our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. This world will be a sadder place with out your mother. Your mom touched my entire family. She taught two of my children at Sunnyside and taught my oldest daughter to play piano. Paulette was a woman of great patients as she showed when she taught me how to play the piano, I think I was one of her greatest challenges, but I will never forget at the age of 32 I was the oldest student at the recital. My family feels your loss and we pray that your memories will get you through the difficult times ahead. But I am sure that you can take comfort in knowing that she already has the angles practicing their scales.

We want to send our sympathy to the family of Paulette. You see, she was the person who introduced me to my husband 45 years ago and we are still happily married. I will always be grateful to her for that. She and I went to Northern Montana College, taught together and lived in Augusta together. We both moved to Great Falls to teach the following year. We have not had contact for many years, but through a mutual friend I kept up on her whereabouts. I knew Jeff when he was very young. We are saddened by her death at such a young age. Reading all the entries in the guest register reminds me of what a good person she was then and must have been until her passing day. Our sincere sympathy, we will pray for her safe arrival into heaven. Arlee and Grover Brown

Mrs. Linaberry was my 3rd grade teacher @ Lowell school in 1969. She was very kind and a great teacher. I also had the pleasure of learning how to play the piano from her. She was very willing to stay after school for me, then during the summer I would go to her house to continue learning the piano. I am amazed in all that she participated in but not surprised. I will never forget her and she will be greatly missed.

Paulette and my mother were both members of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. My mother was much older than Paulette and relyed on me for her transportation. When Paulette found out she didn't just offer to give her rides to the meeting, she made sure that mom knew her offer was genuine and not a bother. I will always be greatful to Paulette for the kindness she showed to my mother - mom was extremely appreciative of Paulette's kindness, not to mention she thoroughly enjoyed her company!

Paulette was my daughters teacher at Sunnyside. She has always remembered her as a kind, loving and nurturing person. Marisa remembers her with affection. She will be very sad to hear of 'Mrs.Linabary's' passing. I came across Paulette's name a couple of years ago and decided to call her. I am so glad I did. She remembered her "Marisa" and was so happy to hear about her former student. We will remember her always. Our prayers and thoughts will be with her family. Thank you, Paulette, for being a shining light in my little girls life. Julie Parker and Marisa

Thank you to all the wonderful family, friends, students and acquaintences of my mom. She is a special person that gave so much of herself to everyone and asked for nothing in return and always still got it. I look forward to celebrating my mom's life on earth and her now eternal life in heaven with all of you on Saturday. Please come to the memorial service and/or the luncheon celebration, my mom really wanted a gathering of everyone she touched. Thank you all. Jeff
