Penny Landon Obituary

Penny Landon

JOLIET —Penny Landon, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend passed away on August 23, 2013 after a 26 year battle with cancer.

Penny was born January 25, 1948 in Missoula, MT to LaVerne and Dean Lockridge. She graduated from Hellgate High School in Missoula. After graduation she worked at the Juvenile Probation Center until she met and married the love of her life, her husband of 44 years, Forrest.

Once married, she became a mother and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time at her family cabin on Seeley Lake and being on the water. After the birth of her grandchildren, she spent many weekends traveling to their sports activities and events with cowbell in hand. Anytime spent with her family was precious time to her.

She enjoyed her many callings through church and loved the time spent with her seminary students. One of the rules of her house was no one left hungry, and many missionaries will never forget the many home cooked meals she prepared. Her grandchildren loved to help her cook and have whip cream fights at her house.

For the past 10 years she was the District Administrator for Carbon County Conservation District. She enjoyed all she worked with and being involved in the community, including her annual Envirothon.

She was preceded in death by her father Dean and mother LaVerne. She is survived by her loving husband Forrest; her children: Marlo (Tim) Brown, Brantley (Stacie) Landon, Melissa Landon, Chad (Heather) Landon; her grandchildren: MaKylyn, Kade, Brock, Brielle, and Cooper Landon. Her sister Bunky (Mike) Priddy, and brother Pete Lockridge.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in Red Lodge MT. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will be afterwards in the Joliet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Landon Family, Sending my heartfelt prayers to you all. Penny was a wonderful woman and I always so enjoyed seeing her. One thing I remember about being in her home was the red heart that was always on her window. She told me that heart represented love. A reminder that the home should be filled only with love. I have several hearts in my home. Thank you Penny you will be dearly missed by all that felt your love.
