Ruby Robertson

DEVON - Ruby M. (Fowler) Robertson, 87, of Devon, died of natural causes Tuesday at a Shelby care center.
Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. today at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby. Her funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at the Devon Lutheran Church, followed by burial in Devon Cemetery and a reception afterward at the church.
Ruby was born to Ted and Anna Fowler in 1923, and was raised on the Marias River. Her father was killed in a haying accident when Ruby was 10 and, as the oldest of six children, she helped raise her five siblings.
In 1945, she married Merle Robertson of Devon, and they raised six children on the family farm south of Devon.
Ruby was known for her hospitality, endless coffee pot and no one leaving her table hungry. She enjoyed raising cattle and chickens, and just stopped milking her cow eight years ago. She was hardworking, thoughtful, kind and never had a bad word about anyone. Ruby loved cooking for harvest, especially when all of her children were there, and cooked her last harvest at age 84.
Surviving are her six loving children, Phyllis Robertson of Shelby, Clark of Torrance, Calif., Reece of Augusta, Mark (Tammarah) of Devon, Marie Roberson of East Glacier, and Hugh of Longmont, Colo.; grandchildren Rachel Robertson of Hawaii, Jason of Whitefish, Logan and Haley of Longmont, Colo., Josanne of Missoula, and Tyler of East Glacier; her brothers, Ted Fowler of Conrad, Allen of Great Falls and Roger Fowler of Shelby; sister Katheryn Sherrard of Payson, Ariz., and Maxine (Roy) Wickum of Chester; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Fowler, in 1988; and her husband of 52 years, Merle, in 1998.
