I had the honor of knowing Steve both personally and profesionally during my days in Great Falls--programming and doing mornings at K-99 from 1992-1995. I remember so many lunches at "The Lobby," working with Steve and "Mr. Video" Dave Sheehan, and Steve's dry and witty sense of humor. He was also one very good attorney. In my book---he's one of the good ones! And he will definitely be missed. I hadn't talked with Steve since 1998---again he's going to be missed. All the best to Brenda and little Grant. Remember---no one can ever take away the wonderful memories you have.....those are precioius and yours to keep forever!

Brenda, Grant and family,

It was my privilege to attend law school with Steve and then begin my legal practice with him at the Cascade County Attorney's Office. We shared many challenges and laughs together. Steve and I tried a few tough cases together, and I remember his skills and strengths as a prosecutor fondly. Steve was a man of commitment who cared deeply for those who crossed into his path for varied reasons. I am unable to honor Steve in the way he deserves by attending his service today, but my thoughts and prayers are with all of the people whose lives he enriched through his dedication, his unique perspectives and his keen sense of humor (as dry as a fine wine). Steve has left a mark upon our lives and the world. May everyone who loved him find comfort in that indelible mark he has left.

Brenda & Grant,
Jon & I both thought Steve was such a neat guy and so fun. I remember Steve did an impersonasion of Sean Connery as James Bond 007 saying, "ahhh Yes… Moneypenny" and he sounded just like him. I made him say it over & over again so I could laugh... and he did! Please know that am with you. I'm here if you need me. I love you.

Dear Brenda,
Words cannot express the loss you, your son and extended family have suffered and I wish I could do something to share your pain. I just wanted you to know that you and Steve are both loved and close to my heart. If there is anything I can do or that you need, please feel free to ask, no matter how small, tough or strange it may be. I was so saddened to hear on Saturday morning and wish I had spent more time with Steve. He was a good man and a good friend to myself and my old roommate, Dave Lee. I will continue to pray for you, your son and your family. You will always be a friend. Love, Lou.

Brenda and Grant,

Sometimes in life we meet people that feel too hard, love too strong and give too much. These people are like beacons to ships, we are attracted to their light. Steve was and always will be that light. His sense of humor, his intelligence and his warmth will always stay in the hearts of everyone he touched. Each memory we have of Steve holds a light of it's own. God bless you, Grant and Steve's families. Love always, Patti Buckingham

February 21, 2007

Dear Brenda and Grant, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. My family is long time friends with the Hudspeths'. Steve and his brothers Doug and Jeff were friends with my three brothers and lots of family fun was had back in the Glendive days. I am happy that Steve was able to spend time with my brothers in 2003 at my parents' Tom and Millie Sullivan's home in Townsend. There was lots of laughter and singing and story sharing at that time by 'the boys'. I was able to spend some time with Steve back in the late 1980's when I lived in Helena. I was always sorry I was not able to visit with him after I had married and had a son and he had married and had a son. I am glad I was able to meet his wife and tell him, on giving him a hug good bye in 2003 at the Sullivans', that he had a very precious little boy. Jenny Bloom

Brenda, Grant and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Steve was a great guy. He was in my law school class. We were first year trial partners and played co-ed softball together. I have many fond memories of after-game drinks and jokes. I am so very sorry for you.

I first met Steve not long after moving to Great Falls in 1986. While both of us were single, Steve and I hung out together a lot and shared a lot of good times. In particular, I remember the great fun we had on a trip to southern California. I made a video of that trip and could hardly hold the camera still because he was always making me laugh. Not only did Steve have an awesome (and very dry) sense of humor, but he also did great impressions of people like Sean Connery and Rod Serling. In addition to being my friend, "Hud" was one of my business partners in Mr. Video Productions. He and Brenda also helped me through some very painful times in my life, including my recent divorce after 10 years of marriage. This is a tragic loss and I will miss him very much. Brenda and Grant, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
