Thomas Nash Obituary

Thomas Richard Nash

GREAT FALLS —Thomas Richard Nash, 77, of Great Falls, died peacefully in Benefis West Extended Care on Friday, October 30, 2015.

Per Thomas' wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.

Thomas Richard Nash was born on May 25, 1938 in Butte, Montana to Mary Jane and Edward Nash. In 1960, Tom married Maurita Conavad, his high school sweetheart. He graduated from the University of Montana in 1961 with a degree in Pharmacy and moved to Havre, where he began working for Owl Drug. Tom's three daughters Jacquie, Danette and Deanna were born in Havre. In 1964, Thomas moved his family to Great Falls and went to work for Skaggs Pharmacy. His son, Brett Thomas Nash was born in Great Falls. Tom and Maurita had four children together and they later separated.

Thomas truly enjoyed the outdoors and he loved watching all sports. He was an avid NASCAR, Mariners, Broncos and Notre Dame fan and seldom missed his children's or grandchildren's events and activities. He passed his love of the outdoors and sports on to all those he knew. Those who knew Tom knew how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. They were his world and he was there for them whenever they needed him to be.

Thomas is survived by his brothers, Larry (Kathy) Nash of Littleton, CO and Edward J. (Pat) Nash of Anchorage, AK; children Jacquie McCarvel, Danette (Greg) Sukut, Deanna Nash, and Brett Nash all of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Dustin Nash, DJ Bernier, Kate Nash, Kelcey McCarvel, and Morgan Sukut; two great-grandchildren, Khloe and Daylin Nash; five nephews; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane and Edward Nash.

Your dad meant the world to us, and we cherish the memories we made with him especially those that involved camping, fishing, and enjoying a beer by the campfire. We had a rule on the boat that whomever caught a fish had to steer the boat. We felt so bad that Tom wasn't catching any fish only to find out that he didn't bait the hook! He just wanted to enjoy the lake. He was always here to help prepare the chili for Super Bowl Sunday and what a cook he was! He was willing to help cut wood with us and load up the truck for winter. He was the first to introduce us to the Tenderfoot. Tom was so very proud of his four children sharing their accomplishments the last time we saw him and also expressing his GRATITUDE for ALL that you have been doing for him in these last months. He will be sorely missed, but we are forever grateful for our times with him. Believing that heaven is perfection and all that we love, we picture him hiking in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Much love to you four children.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Tom's family. We have great memories of him and his family. Gary and Tom would go hunting and fishing together many times. Gary remembers lots of good stories and many good laughs. Lots of them being stuck in mud or snow! Or the hunting party leaving Gary at a rest stop!! Many good times were had with Tom. He will be greatly missed. May you cherish the good memories you have and may they help you get through this difficult time. God Bless you and yours..
