Wendell Thacker Obituary

CONRAD - Wendell Thacker, 91, of Conrad, died of natural causes Wednesday at Pondera Medical Center in Conrad.
Services will be held at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Wendell was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Falls City, Neb., to Otho and Olive (Hanna) Thacker. He was the youngest of eight children, who are now all deceased.
He attended high school in Dawson, Neb., and then the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Wendell served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was an agronomist who worked with soil conservation services and did landmark research in saline seep. He enjoyed photography, hiking and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Thacker of Conrad; sons John (Linda) Koontz of Olathe, Kan., and David (Robin) Koontz of Missoula; a daughter, Barbara (Mike) Habets of Conrad; and four grandchildren, Cindy Peterson, Jenny Holt, Joe Koontz and Stephen Habets.
Wendell was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Thacker; and a granddaughter, Amy Habets.

Marge, Our condolences to you on the loss of Wendell. He was a good friend and mentor and a good communicator. I enjoyed working with him in the Soil Conservation Service.

So sorry for your loss, Marge. You and your family are in our prayers. I was surprised to learn you had moved to Conrad. I don't think Mother knew that either. Take care and know that we care. (Did Barbara ever live in Fairfield?)
