Julian Kler Obituary

Julian Ralph Kler, born February 21, 1925 in Lucerne, Colorado, died on his 98th birthday, February 21, 2023 in Greeley, Colorado. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 75 years, Nadine (Meisner); his parents Karl and Florentina (Meyer) Kler, and his 7 siblings: Emma, Edward, Albert, Mary, Robert, Rose and August. His children and their families survive him: Karl (Deniece) Kler, Kathleen Kler, Kristine (Gregg) Ferrill, Karen (Jim) Schneider; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Roll, Ryan Kler, Nathan Comsia, Aaron Comsia, Haakon Haakenson, Kimberly Kepler, Alyson Ferrill and Emily Schneider; sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was the oldest member of the congregation. He graduated in 1942 from Greeley High; after serving as a civilian radio corpsman, joined the 8th Armored Division. He was awarded the Bronze star for his bravery during the Battle of the Bulge. His reserve unit was called up during the Korean War to Camp Polk, LA. He worked 30 years for AT&T across the country, rising to Long Line management by hard work and focus. While in New York City, he worked on the first Telstar communication satellite, and in San Francisco, the transoceanic cable network. After retiring back to Greeley, AT&T International contracted with him to teach technical classes in Saudi Arabia in 1984. He was the vice President of Rocky Mountain Communication Consultants. His life of service included volunteering at the Greeley of Commerce Chamber Visitor Center, the Information desk of NoCo Medical Center and the American Cancer Society. Recognized for over 4300 hours in the RSVP Shopping Program, Triangle Cross Ranch, a Christian residential community, and performing maintenance at Our Savior's, he was inducted into the Greeley/Weld Senior Foundation Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2015, France recognized his role in their country's liberation, bestowing him with the Legion of Honor Medal. The American Flag was flown over the Capitol Building in his honor. He was quietly proud of his military service and took part in the Freedom Honor Flight and recorded interview of his experiences on YouTube (https://www. youtube.com/watch?v=k QWrsro0hfg). Julian was a humble, honorable man whose unwavering focus throughout his life was on his faith, his family, and service to others. The family thanks Grace Point for their years of love and care, Dr. Ebens, Pastor John Knutson, and Pathways Hospice. Memorials to be given to: Weld County Food Bank or Our Savior's Lutheran Church Memorial Service: March 18, 2023, 1p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave, Greeley, CO.

It was an honor to have known Julian, he was a true gentleman who I was lucky to know and I will miss him. Marcia and I visited Julian and Deanie quite often and it was always a joyful and wonderful experience! It was pleasure to attend the impressive event when Julian received the French Legion of Honor Medal at the Capital in Denver. It was at that event that I had the privilege to meet all his family and I thank you all for that.
