Jerry Watson Obituary

Jerry Watson

Green Bay - Jerry Watson, 72, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. He was born on August 10, 1946 in Green Bay to the late James and Dorothy (Weiner). On July 9, 1977 he married Diane Boone at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Green Bay.

Jerry is now reunited with his wife Diane. They shared a bond that was second to none. Jerry along with his wife Diane were best known as the founders of Stadium View Sports Bar & Banquet Hall. He and Diane started the business September 1992. This was one of his most proud accomplishments. He always stayed humble along the way, referring to himself as, "Just a dumb, retired truck driver."

Watson was known as someone who always told it like it was. He never held back and never was politically correct. He was also known as having a giant soft spot for helping others. Many people referred to him as "Uncle Jerry" because he was always there to lend an ear, give advice or help no matter what, in any way he could.

Throughout his life Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, as well as getting youth and newcomers started in either discipline. Most recently, Jerry's focus was spending time hunting with his grandson.

During the summers it was a guarantee you would find Jerry at his grandchildren's baseball/softball games.

Jerry is survived by his son, Bob (Amanda) Watson; two grandchildren, Will and Ali Watson, brothers, Jim (Bonnie) Watson and Jack (Debbie) Watson; sister, Marianne Watson; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Stadium View, 1963 Holmgren Way, from 2:00 pm until the funeral service at 5:30 pm. Expressions of sympathy, memories and photos may be shared with Jerry's family on his tribute page at www.lyndahl.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

A great family man. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jerry. He was a true friend. From the day he walked into my Office at The Village hall and told me he wanted to open a bar on Gross Street. We got the zoning changed and the rest is history. I was at Stadium View almost every Thursday for the meat loaf special and Jerry would join me most of the time and we would talk about the Packers and how business was. God Bess you Jerry. I will always remember how you got the zoning changed. Bobbie I know you and the family are missing a legend in Ashwaubenon.

On behalf of the now defunct Wisconsin Fleet Maintenance Council,..... Thank you Jerry for the support you offered our organization for many years. The monthly banquet hall use for our meetings and the items you donated for our annual golf outings will forever be appreciated. Those monies raised helped young men obtain scholarships to the FVTC and NWTC diesel mechanics programs.
And of course I enjoyed sitting at the bar and shooting the bull. Especially the time Terry Bradshaw came in for lunch and the both of us were wondering if it was or wasn't him. It was. And you had a helluva good time with him that day.
Adios Amigo,... Happy Trails !

Sad to learn of our friends passing. I got to know him initially when we both were in trucking, I with Spector and he with Clairmont. Then I gave him his driving test to join us at Yellow Freight. After my first wife passed, Jerry set up my first date with Katie. She was their day manager at the bar, and I had specific instructions that I could date her, but I could not marry her. (Those instructions were more colorful than that) We know how that worked out, and Katie and I have been married over 22 years. Spent many times with Jerry hunting in Africa and Colorado. Fishing in Canada at Bull Moose. Rest in peace my friend, back with Diane. I owe you a lot.
