John Woosencraft Obituary

John Woosencraft

Green Bay - John M. Woosencraft, 68, lifelong resident of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. He was born on June 23, 1952 to the late George and Charlotte (Bonnin) Woosencraft.

John graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1970. He spent many years playing league sports like slow pitch softball, bowling, and golf (including a hole-in-one at Brown County Golf Course). He worked at James River, later Georgia Pacific, for over 40 years, retiring in 2013.

John cherished time spent with family and friends, and especially loved playing bocce ball in Colburn Park. He liked to walk through Barkhausen Preserve and take wildlife photos. John enjoyed his sports, cheering on the Brewers and Blackhawks and traveling to NASCAR races. Whether meeting friends at Lenny's Tap or going out for his daily cup of soup, everyone looked forward to running into Woosie around town.

John is survived by his beloved children, Sara Woosencraft and Mark (Ginger Dempsky) Woosencraft; siblings, Tom (Donna) Woosencraft, Bill (Bonnie) Woosencraft, Jim (Jane) Woosencraft, Donna (Roger) Truckey, Patti Dahlstrom, and Mary Woosencraft; cousins, Mike (Debbie) Woosencraft and Scott (Nicole) Woosencraft; the mother of his children, Jane Davis-Wood; grand-dogs, Luna and Milo; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Leila Woosencraft; uncle, Ken (Ivalee) Woosencraft; and niece, Michelle Crevier.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 22, at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. With concerns for the coronavirus, masks are required and must be worn to completely cover the nose and mouth; and social distancing be respected. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com, or cards may be sent to Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, WI 54303, to the attention of John Woosencraft's family and they will be forwarded on.

I worked at James River for 6 weeks as summer help. John was the supervisor I looked forward to working for. He was fair, personable, and made work fun.
