Judith 'Judy' Mary Dougherty (Née Amidon) died after a brief battle with leukemia, surrounded by her family at Rainy Lake Medical Center on October 18th, 2017 in International Falls, Minnesota at the age of 81.

Judy is survived by her three children, John (Lisa) Dougherty, Mary Jane (Rod) Haanen, Jenny (Dan) Herman; siblings, Jimmy (Sue) Amidon and Keith (Janet) Amidon; her nine grandchildren, Emily, Sam and Sadie Dougherty, Will and Grace Haanen, Stella, Sophie and Maddie Fredrickson and Angie (Dave) Sandstrom. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick Dougherty.

Judy was born on June 28, 1936 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Erma and George Amidon. She graduated from Falls High School in 1954. She attended the University of Minnesota. She married Dick Dougherty in 1957. Her children remember her as a loving, warm and kind mother. She was beautiful and special to everyone who knew her. She was a hero to her brothers and the ideal sister, who knew her as a smart, tough and funny girl. Judy was an important part of her grandchildren's lives, who remember sleepovers, her sugar cookies and riding on her broom at night.

Meals shared at Judy's table were unforgettable. She brought happiness and joy to anyone she met.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, October 21 at Green Larson Mortuary at 4:00pm, with a reception to follow at the Thunderbird Lodge. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Judy's life. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to your charity of choice.
