Julie Michiels Obituary
Appleton - Long time matriarch of Michiels Restaurant Family, Julie Patricia Bredael Michiels went to heaven on January 3, 2018. Julie was born in Luxemburg, Wisconsin on November 27, 1931. Julie was one of the seven children of Viola and Harvey Bredael. Mom married Jerry Michiels and had nine children who were raised in Sherwood. There are eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Julie grew up working in the Bredael Family bar and bowling lanes in Luxemburg. Here she perfected her family's chicken booyah recipe, which proved to be the perfect training ground for her future as a mother of nine children. Along with raising her family, Julie was instrumental in the early days of Michiels Sherwood Inn (1960) and finishing her stellar career at Micheils Fox Banquets in downtown Appleton in 2016.
A spunky lifelong Republican - Julie always let us know where she stood in an honest, straight forward manner.
Most importantly, Julie was a phenomenal mom to all nine of us! We know how very blessed we each are to proudly say she's our mom.
On behalf of Julie, her children would like to thank all the many people who have enriched mom's life with their friendship along the way.
A celebration of life is planned for June 2018.

Paul and I are so sorry to hear of Julie's passing. We enjoyed the many meals at all the restaurants, and I loved golfing with her at High Cliff. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Extra special thoughts and prayers going out to the Michiels and Bredael families at Aunt Julie's passing. The parties and celebrations in Appleton were always a hoot, especially hearing childhood stories about my Dad (Mark Bredael) and all his siblings. Julie was always a wonderful host! So sorry for your loss...
