Persha, Kathleen

Kathleen P. Persha passed away at home on November 9, 2015. She was born to Raymond and Bertha Montag on February 28, 1938. Kathleen grew up in St. Lawrence, WI and graduated from Slinger High School in 1956. She traveled around the country before moving to Texas and marrying her first husband, Joseph Travis, on December 30, 1961. They welcomed their son, Joseph Jr., in 1965. After her husband passed away in 1970, she moved back to St. Lawrence, WI. She married her second husband, Emil Persha, on November 3, 1979, and had two daughters, Jennifer and Pamela.

Kathy worked many jobs from filing clerk, Avon consultant, canning factory worker, home caregiver, to a rural mail carrier for the Redgranite Post Office. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, a Catholic youth education teacher, a member of the PTO, and with other charities.

Several years after Emil passed away, she sold their hobby farm in Redgranite and moved to live with her son in Cascade. In 2008 she moved to Green Bay to be closer to her daughter Pam and her family. Kathy was a caring, compassionate person who persevered through all the health problems she had. She loved flowers, gardening, cooking, sewing, and of course, her grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her children, Joseph Travis (Lisa Nitsch and her children), Sheboygan; Jennifer Persha, Madison; Pamela (Matthew) Gilson, Luxemburg; a step-daughter, Josie Meyer of AZ; grandchildren, Zachary Travis (Ashlyn Brandell and daughter, Maylee), AK, Sydnie, Natalie, and Kyle Gilson, Luxemburg; and step-grandchildren, Angela Meyer (son, Matthew), VA, and David Meyer, AZ; siblings, Pat Dueno, Marge Les Monde, Marion Sage, Tom Montag, Ray (Kathy) Montag, Tony Montag, William (Cindy) Montag, Fritz (Mary) Montag, Lucy Campbell, Joanie Richardson, Christine (John) Zommers, and Suzy (Dan) Knutson; sisters-in-law, Mary Schmeling and Marian Persha; and brother-in-law, Nick (Sue) Persha; her loving cat Tiger and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a sister, Rita Guelig; a brother, Hubert Montag; brothers-in-law, Daniel Mazar and Joseph Persha, sisters-in-law, Helen Uecker, Katherine Krause, and Ann Stipanovic.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12. Funeral will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
