Leatrice Klaubauf Obituary

Leatrice Klaubauf

Green Bay - Leatrice Klaubauf, 90, went to be with her Savior Monday, April 9, 2018. She was born November 10, 1927, to the late John and Verna (Sperber) McCosky. She spent her childhood in Sturgeon Bay and graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School where she met her husband Ed. After he finished his tour in the U.S. Army, and she finished nursing school, they were married on October 28, 1950, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay, Ed preceded her in death on January 26, 2007. She spent her nursing career at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, past member of the Altar Guild and School Club, St. Mary's Alumnae, St. Vincent Retirement Club, and the Red Cross. Leatrice was given the name Toots by her paternal grandfather when she was 1 day old, and it stayed with her. She and Ed traveled across the U.S. and had an extended trip to Europe. Their cottage on the North Branch of the Oconto River, which was built by Ed, was special to them. The rapids were beautiful and great for rafting, many happy hours were spent there.

She is survived by her children, Kathryn (Patrick) Liebergen, Naples, FL and Menomonie, WI, and Paul (Jody) Klaubauf, Green Bay; grandchildren, Christopher (Sara) Liebergen, Minneapolis, MN, Justin (Roberta) Liebergen, Eau Claire, WI, and Zachary (special friend Tara Janssen) Klaubauf, Green Bay; great-grandson, Austin and Hudson Liebergen, Eau Claire, WI; two sisters-in-law, Jean Schmitz, Maplewood, WI, and Joyce Klaubauf, Sturgeon Bay, WI; two god daughters, Cindy Smith, Oconto, and Suzi Hass, Sister Bay; along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Leatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Karl) Johnson; along with loving members of Ed's family

Friends may gather at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 514 S. Clay St, on Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Services at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Jon Zabell will preside. Burial will be in the Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.prokowall.com.

"Toots" was a caring person, strong in her faith, and had a joyful heart.

One of my brothers saw that Toots had passed away and told me. He was not sure of the connection but knew there were only so many Klaubaufs in the area and thought we must be related. He is much younger and doesn't remember your mom or dad. Your dad was a first cousin to my mom, Lenore Pfister Hart. Mom was very close to her cousins and after Toots married Eddie she got to know and love your mom, too. The last time I talked to your mom was at the funeral home visitation for my mom. I thought it was so very caring of her to make such an effort to drive to De Pere. Our thoughts are with your family at this sad time. Sincerely, Judy Hart Parker
