Lee Soules Obituary

Soules, Lee

Lee Soules, age 79, passed away at St. Mary's hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous four year battle against Multiple Myeloma on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

Elliston Lee Soules was born on June 6, 1933 in Brookfield, Ohio to the late John and Daisy (Wright) Soules.

Lee left Brookfield to join the United States Air Force in 1953. While stationed in Florida, he met Diane Remington. They were married on July 26, 1956 and were blessed to have 56 wonderful years together.

Lee was a Korean War Veteran and served two tours of Viet Nam in 1954 and 1971. It was during his tour in Da Nang in 1971 that he was exposed to the Agent Orange that ultimately caused the cancer that took his life.

Lee proudly served his country in the Air Force for 21 years and upon retiring, brought his family to Green Bay to begin his second career at Proctor and Gamble's Fox River Mill as an Electrical Manager. He retired from Procter and Gamble in 1992.

After retiring from the Air Force, Lee got his private pilots license. In the 1980's, he sang with the "Sounds Fantastic" singers. He enjoyed bowling with Diane. When Lee retired from Procter and Gamble, he discovered golf and his "third career" began. It was a sport he came to truly love and it brought him much joy.

Lee is survived by his wife and best friend, Diane (Remington) Soules and his brother Larry Soules of Masury, Ohio. He is also survived by his children John R. Soules and his wife Donna Painter of Dawsonville, Georgia, Laura Wilkowski and her husband Chris Wilkowski of Green Bay and David Elliston Soules and his wife Michelle Soules of Greenville. He also leaves behind his adoring Grandchildren, Daniel Bartel and his wife Alanna Gladney of Seattle, Washington, Drew Bergman and "Papas Girl" Paige Bergman, both of Green Bay.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 6, 2013, after 10 am at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, where the funeral service will take place at 1 pm with Pastor Kim Sechler officiating. Military honors will follow. Entombment will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com. Memorials will be used for research for Multiple Myeloma in Lee's name.

Lee's family would like to thank the many people who provided compassion, kindness, and friendship to Lee and his family during his illness. His family would also like to thank the medical professionals who cared for Lee during the last four years.
