LeRoy R. Michlig
Green Bay - LeRoy R. Michlig, 91, was called to Heaven on Thursday, March 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 1, 1929, in Wausau, WI to Conrad and Elfrieda (Sonnentag) Michlig.
On October 25, 1952, LeRoy married LaVera Lehman at St. Leonard Catholic Church in Laona, WI, and celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2017. LaVera preceded LeRoy in death on February 21, 2018. LeRoy had a great sense of humor and had said at his 50th wedding anniversary that the first 50 years are the toughest. He would then go on to reassess that statement at his 60th wedding anniversary stating that it was in fact the first 60 years that were the hardest. He enjoyed traveling to faraway places with his wife. LeRoy would make a point to go out to the garden and cut a yellow rose to give to LaVera every day. His patron Saint was St. Theresa of The Little Flower. LeRoy was a humble man who worried more for others than himself. He was a man of incredible emotional strength and work ethic whose faith was extremely important to him. It was this strength that helped him become one of the best asphalt construction consultants in the Midwest and Alaska. He always said he was one of the few men that laid asphalt North of the Arctic Circle and South of the Equator. In his free time, LeRoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing Sheephead at camp up in Nickel, and time spent in the garden where he felt close to God. LeRoy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished forever by his children, LeLony Michlig-Radtke, Monica "Mic" (Steve) Vomastic, Lola (Kevin) Henke, Lanz (Connie) Michlig, Lyzette (Brian) Maroszek; ten grandchildren, Lt. Col. Beau (Abby) Vomastic, Landon (Kate) Vomastic, Lara Henke, Kiara (Jason) Wolfgram, Kody Henke, Logan Michlig, Mikayla Michlig, Brayden Maroszek, Brock Maroszek, Brody Maroszek; seven great-grandchildren, Bailey, Michael, Liam, Gabriel, Huntley, Harlow, Remington; brother, Conrad (June) Michlig; sisters-in-law, Deone Michlig and Macie Lea Tipton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, LaVera; his parents; brothers, Raymond (Dorothy) Michlig, Hilary (Marian) Michlig, Anthony Michlig; sister-in-law, Mariel Emmers; and a brother-in-law, Forrest 'Tip' Tipton.
