Lt. Colonel Francis "Fran" Junio, USA, Ret.

Green Bay - LTC Francis "Fran" M. Junio, USA, Retired, 82, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021. He was born on March 9, 1939 to the late William and Apollonia (Metzler) Junio. Fran was a graduate of St. Mary's Grade School and Algoma High School. He went on to attend St. Norbert's College on a full football scholarship. After his graduation from St. Norbert's, he earned his commission as a 2nd LT in the U.S. Army, where he served for 26 years until his retirement. After his commission he also went on to receive his master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. In June of 1961, he married Diane Bathke and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Fran was a man of strong faith and loved God and his country. He was a devoted husband and a loving father to his son, Craig. Fran loved the Cubbies and was an avid Packer fan. He enjoyed spending time with his St. Norbert's friends and telling stories, both things from his past and the present. Fran was hard working and was always willing to help someone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Craig Junio; brother, Tom Junio, brother-in-law, Tony Hamernik; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Fran was preceded in death by his siblings, Lloyd (Pearl) Junio, Raymond (Shirley) Junio, Kenneth (Jean) Junio, Leroy Junio, Rosemary (Cliff) Delsart, Shirley (Mel) Moreau, Audrey Hamernik and Sharlene (Gary) Kostichka; and sister-in-law, Jean Junio.

Visitation will he held on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Road, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. James Lucas officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society.
