Marilyn DeGrand Obituary

DeGrand, Marilyn

Marilyn G. DeGrand, 68, Luxemburg, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 15, 2017. She was born April 23, 1949, to Norbert and Marian (Kust) Dorner. She graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1967. Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Daniel W. DeGrand at St. Mary's Church in Luxemburg on October 28, 1967, and together they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this October.

She continued on to Cosmetology school in Green Bay and was a hair stylist for many years. Marilyn proudly raised three children, Deneen, Jody and Todd. Throughout her years, she also worked transporting special education students to Syble Hopp, a cook at the Luxemburg-Casco School District, bartending at the Rendezvous and worked at Subway. She was a devoted displayer/consultant for Home Interiors and Gifts for 39 years. Her talents were spread through many homes by her creativity through her Home Interiors and Gifts career.

Marilyn enjoyed working in her gardens, spending time with family, attending her grandchildren's school and sport events, playing cards, and going Up North to her family cabin. As an avid Brewer fan, Marilyn rarely missed watching a game. In recent years, Marilyn revived her passion for art by taking painting classes from a special friend, Jeanne Trumble.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel; children, Jody (Darrell) Duckart and Todd (Kelley) DeGrand and son-in-law Kevin Schweiner (special friend, Heidi); her grandchildren, Travis and Brittany (Delain) Minger, Ashley Minger, Morgan and Brennan Schweiner, Owen and Ellah DeGrand; brothers, Dale (Elaine) Dorner, Mark (Cheryl) Dorner, Gregory (Diane) Dorner, Douglas (Cyndi) Dorner, Kevin (Diana) Dorner, Patrick (Carrie) Dorner; sisters Kathy DeGrave, Kristen (Mark) Allen, Cheryl (Terry) Nienhaus, Dawn (Brian) Rabas, Lisa (Gerry) Spude (godchild), and Amy (Joe) Peters; sister-in-law Mary Dorner; Brothers-in-law Larry DeGrand, Ron (Debbie) DeGrand, and Mark (special friend, Teri) DeGrand; Sister-in-law Jeanne Conard; numerous relatives, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her infant son, Daniel DeGrand Jr. and daughter, Deneen Schweiner; her parents Norbert and Marian (Kust) Dorner; brother, David Dorner, brother-in-law Ken DeGrave; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Irma (Rentmeester) DeGrand, brothers-in-law Darold (Pam) DeGrand and Steve Conard. Godparents Milos and Grace (Kust) Ledvina.

On behalf of Marilyn's family, we would like to express our gratitude to the St. Vincent Oncology and St. Vincent Hospital for giving such great support with her cancer journey. Additional appreciation is given to the amazing and compassionate 9th floor nurses who cared for Marilyn.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5930 Humboldt Road, Luxemburg. Stories will never grow old and her memory will never fade. Marilyn was the most genuine, life loving, giving person I have ever had the pleasure to know. Her warmth will shine upon us all.
Our tears are showers she's sending from heaven.
I'm sure Marilyn and Deneen will come up with a few supprizes for us all.
Let's hold her in our hearts and never let go ❤

Dear Danny, Jody and Todd and family,

Extending our deepest sympathy. We've known Marilyn for so many years. In high school, she was always the life of the party. Home Interiors, she reached so many goals and made the best creations with flowers, it was truly amazing. She treated her customers like family. Loved seeing her at the hospital Memorial week and catching up on old times. We'll never forget all the great times with her, especially coming back from Nashville in pea soup weather and having an added stop at a hotel on way home. What fun that was! Marilyn had this infectious smile that would like up the room, she always seemed happy.

May God wrap his arms around your family and give you comfort and peace knowing that she's celebrating with Deneen in heaven. What a joyous meeting that must have been. Take care, we'll be praying for you all.
