Hall & Rae Shatwell
April 20, 2021
Mary is a dearly loved extended family member of Rae, my wife, myself, my Daughter, Tracy, and my Son, Rick, pl;us all 7 of their kids. She loves people & dogs (hers, our many many dogs over the years, and others). Mary is such a very openhearted "my home is your home" easy going loving lady! Her two Grandkids are her favorite, but all of us have truly enjoyed the welcome of spending most engaging time and activities with Mary!
A dozen or so years ago, Mary visited us'all in Texas and introduced Rae to 'Quilting' at our country's largest annual quilt show in Houston. Rae, already an avid seamstress, became instantly addicted. Ever since, those two have been actively engaged (even until 4 AM, having lost all track of time) quilting companions and buddies. Geographic separation gets overcome, Quilting retreats take priority, quality fun time for all develops.
Mary has, also, made traveling more pleasurable including an extensive road trip thru some impassable snow and ice conditions to the west coast and back exploring all we could as we went. She and her sister Carole took a cruise out of San Diego, while we visited Rae's Son's family there. Mary and Carole's cold weather gear and treasured acquisitions from our travels were secure in our large SUV--secure & safely stored while on their cruise, Ha: rear window was busted out as I was golfing and all their suitcases plus souvenir treasures were stolen. Sad and heartbreaking as that was, Mary (in her marvelous accepting, no condemnation manner) just took it in stride.
Mary has been a truly cherished blessing in all our lives! Now, we join y'all in CELEBRATING her life and rejoicing in her pain free entrance to Heaven!

I am so very sad to hear this. I know how much she missed her Wayne, and also her best friend Darla. I know that there will be a spot waiting for her to be with them in Heaven. I was among her many dear friends and and also her relative. She will be missed terribly by her 'boys' and their families and her very special sister, Carole. Mary was so very warm and giving. Always willing to share her talents whether they were food, painting, crafting and her sense of humor. RIP Dear Mary! I love you!
