Mike, you were one darn good coach. Maybe there's a team beyond the pearly gates that is awaiting your peerless attention. Robert E. Bodoh

Our thoughts and prayers go out the Heideman family. Mike was a wonderful person, coach and mentor. I know my dad Don La Violette was there to meet him in heaven. They will share their coaching stories. Thoughts and prayers go out to your family from ours as you go through this difficult time. Cherish the memories and the knowledge that he changed and affected so many lives in such a positive way.

Haven't seen Mike in a long time, except on TV. I played against him in high school and always admired him as a smart, fierce competitor, with class. RIP Mike

We have been privileged to have Mike and Sally Heideman and their family as personal friends for more than 20 years. Mike was truly a great man for many reasons . He was honest, humble, patient, thoughtful, caring, sincere, hardworking, and a true gentleman at all times.
He quietly lived his Catholic Faith each day without talk or fanfare.
He was a "loving and caring" husband, father, and grandfather in every sense of the word.
He was a coach, a mentor and a roll model to his athletes and students.
Our world is a better place because of Mike Heideman. Enjoy heaven Mike! We will miss you.

I don't know where to start and I could never be happy where to finish. I kick myself for not getting to visit him. He was one hell of a man. I was lucky enough to play for him and coach for him. He was great in both regards. I hold him up there with my father in regards to two men I looked up to. My sincere prayers and condolences go out to his family. Until we meet again coach!

I am very saddened to learn of Coach's death. Coach was a wonderful mentor and friend at St. Mary's Catholic. Coach was the most reflective person I knew and 3 things most standout when I think of him His enthusiasm for the sport of basketball, his willingness to share his Catholic faith, and his admiration & love for his wife. My heart goes out to Sal and the entire Heideman family. He made those around him better people and it was my privilege to be his friend. God speed on your new journey Coach.

Love to Sal and whole family. Lost a dear friend who I literally grew up with, (although we swore we never would:)!. Never heard him say a harsh word and will remember that smile and laugh forever.

Tears flow as I heard the news today. I have been forever greatful for coach and what he taught me and how he cared about me when I played football at St. Norbert. I have always remembered this and tried to follow his example with my athletes and students over the years. Coach Heideman will always be a part of who I am. I am sad for all who loved and knew him.
